Fronde Community Mural – Parco Gargasole (en)

Fronde. Pt.1 Pigment Workroom, BARI 2018. Il nostro obiettivo è stato quello di coinvolgere i residenti del quartiere con diverse open-call, individuando come tema quello della natura, e in particolare quello delle fronde degli alberi.

Parco Gargasole

The “FRONDE” project, implemented between December 2017 and March 2018, led to the creation of two participatory urban art works on the edges of Gargasole Park, an area that the Municipality of Bari has earmarked for creative regeneration in the Ex-Caserma Rossani area. The opportunity was to unite different Cultural Associations in the shared design of an abandoned place, setting our work together with the Mobile Spaces Association and Fractal Decor Design. Our goal was to engage the residents of the neighborhood with several open-calls, identifying as a theme that of nature, and in particular that of tree foliage. On a wall with more than 100 years of history, we felt it was our duty to preserve its peculiarities and the different existing levels of color, plastering the uncovered parts of the wall, and coloring what instead has held up over time. For both phases, we extrapolated shapes and patterns from famous paintings by great artists from the 1800s to the present, and then used ecologically sustainable materials: on the one hand, mortars and natural plasters, on the other lime paints and spray paints. The end result is the superimposition of materials, techniques, shapes, and colors, which refer to the world of botany and that are integrated organically and harmoniously with the pre-existences, be they are wall erosions, graffiti or climbing vegetation.

Accessibility: The work is accessible Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
