On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Pigment Workroom, the Kick-Off project allowed the group of artists who participated in the first year of activities in the Enziteto neighborhood to return and organize a sports and public art tournament.
They were joined by the President of Pigment Workroom, Marioiks, who had already, in the previous months, transformed the entrance of the former middle school of the neighborhood by painting a mural that represented the four pillars of the new Academy of Cinema of Enziteto, established thanks to the public notice “Bari Community Hub”: Audiovisual Production, Music Workshop, Craft Beer Production, and Social Screen Printing.
The latter, founded by PWR under the name “Stampate,” after months of activity, was able to support the artists in the design and creation of the sports uniforms from the first stitch to the last.
Mario Ikas, leading the educational process with a dozen girls and boys under-16 from the neighborhood, was able to use the chromatic work of the mural at the entrance of the Academy of Cinema of Enziteto and bring it onto the main Kick-Off project, the decoration of the basketball court where the final tournament was played.
The participants were asked to start with colors to define their sports identities: the Magmas used red and green to represent fire and nature, while the Rayos chose yellow and blue to symbolize the sun and the sea.
The stamps they created for printing on fabric were later transformed into footwear, allowing them to step on the court, creating patterns that served as the backdrop for everyone to follow Marioiks in creating the second layer of colors, always coordinated with the four identities of the cultural center, as well as the two basketball teams.
On November 18, finally, our young basketball players were able to play on the court they had colored, wearing the uniforms they had designed, in a full-fledged celebration that also included works created by Alfano, Ciredz, and Geometric Bang.
The artist thanks Agata Stańczak, Justyna Kazanecka, Rocio Devalle, Crissi Campanale, Michele Santella, and everyone who helped in the creation of the artwork.
